How to Install Shock Pad

Shock Pad is a high-quality underlay that is used beneath artificial grass to provide a comfortable and safe surface.

It has a number of characteristics which means that it can improve your installation in many ways:

• It provides additional comfort and bounce which is perfect for play areas or hard surfaces such as balconies.
• It absorbs impact and minimises the risk of injury especially areas where there is risk of falling from height such as play areas.
• It is free-draining like our artificial grass which means it will dry after its rained.
• It’s perfect for hard surfaces such as roof tops because it provides good insulation and absorbs sound which minimises the sound of footsteps above.

Shock Pad really is an excellent, well-rounded product which can serve many uses.

Installing shock pad is fairly simple and can be used on top of a sub base in your garden, patio, balcony, play area or roof terrace. Basically anywhere that it is required.

Step 1 Ensure the surface you are applying it to is flat and even. Shock pad is an interlocking system of pieces, much like a puzzle which can be connected together.

Step 2 Start at the top corner of your area and place the first piece down, then continue to move across slotting each one in the gaps provided, like a puzzle. Then go down to the next line and continue this process until the end.

Step 3 At the edges, the shock pad must run parallel with the edges so you may need to cut the shock pad where the protruding puzzle ends are.

Step 4 Ensure the top of the shock pad is flush with the top of the edging. For example, if you choose a 10mm high shock pad, allow for an additional 10mm depth in the groundwork.

Step 5 If you have an edging system, laying Namgrass over shock pad is heavy enough to keep the shock pad in place. However, if you don’t then you would need to screw at the corners or spot glue it to keep it secure. To attach Namgrass you could put a spot glue around the perimeter and stick it onto the shock pad or alternatively attach some treated timber on the inside of the edging, level with the height of the shock pad and screw Namgrass into timber covering the shock pad.
